Venture English Language School

What began as a tutoring business in 2003 has become a small Edinburgh-based English language school offering dynamic English learning experiences to international clients: Venture English.
Our story begins with Lorna Lythgoe, the Founder and Director of Venture English. Lorna moved to Japan to teach English after university, then went on to teach in four continents, travel extensively and study broadly.
Lorna started expanding her passion for experiential learning by becoming a trip leader for an adventure travel company, guiding young people around Europe on the biggest adventures of their lives. She worked with them to communicate and collaborate, to face and overcome their fears, and to discover their strengths and potential.
It’s these experiences and values that are at the heart of Venture English. We represent a unique blend of years of classroom learning – in the role of both teacher and student – mixed with holistic approaches to education that take into account the broader ways in which we learn and grow.
We’re proud to be a little different, to push the boundaries of learning English, and to keep things interesting. We’re proud to offer you the chance to experience a language adventure
